ICASSP 2018 has received 2830 paper submissions, the second largest number of paper submissions for an ICASSP. The papers are now undergoing a thorough review, and decisions are expected by January 15, 2018 with authors being notified shortly after this date of the decision.

The Tutorial Chairs, Dr. Homen Chen and Dr. Chungyong Lee, have done an outstanding job of collecting and reviewing proposals for this year's tutorials. A record number of forty-two proposals were submitted, and of these sixteen were selected for presentation. All of these are expected to be outstanding, timely, and exciting. We apologize if many of you will have a hard time choosing which ones to attend. The list of tutorials may be found on the Tutorials Web Page.

We are very happy to brighten our conference with four exceptional plenary speakers: Dr. Alex Acero, a renowned speech processing researcher and director for speech research for Siri at Apple, Prof. Julia Hirschberg, Chair for the Computer Science Department at Columbia University and a pioneer in text-to-speech synthesis, especially prosody for speech synthesis, Dr. Yann LeCun, one of the pioneers of neural networks in and their applications in AI, and director of the Facebook Research Artificial Intelligent labs, and Dr. Luc Vincent, vice-president of engineering at Lyft, responsible for their efforts in autonomous vehicles. Finally, we are excited to say that we have 16 Special Sessionsfor ICASSP this year selected from a record number of 48 submissions. Dr. Tulay Adali and Dr. Seungjin Choi have been hard at work putting these sessions together, and the Technical Committee is sure that you will find these sessions of great interest.
